Willowbound Calendar 2022/2023
September 12 & 13 Open House
9:00-10:00 am or 1:00-2:00 pm. Children can come meet their teachers, classmates, and explore their new classroom and yard. Parents will meet your child's teacher, stay and play a few minutes with your child, and visit with other parents. After 30 minutes in the barn and yard, parents and younger siblings will walk over to the cabin for a 20 minute orientation. Parents will pick up children back at the school and explore together for the remaining 10 minutes. Please bring an extra set of clothing (including underwear or pull-ups) in a plastic gallon bag with your child’s name to the open house.
September 14 First Day of School for M/W classes
Three-year-old Class 8:30-11:00 am, Four-year-old Class 1:00-3:30 pm
September 15 First Day of School for T/Th classes
Four-year-old class 8:30-11:00 am, Three-year-old class 1:00-3:30 pm
Initial Developmental Evaluations
As part of the registration process parents are asked to fill out child information sheets to identify interests, and strengths that will guide our curriculum choices. At open house you will also be given instructions on filling out the ASQ-3, an early childhood screening, that further identifies your child's strengths and possible goals. It is important that we link our lesson plans with individual and age appropriate cognitive, social, emotional, motor, and self-care goals.
November 11 Fall Share
Fall Share-Parents will be invited to the last twenty minutes of class on this day to share some of their adventures through photos. Refreshments will be served for children and parents at the end of the day.
Thanksgiving Break November 23/24
Christmas Break December 21-Jan 3rd (Resume Jan 4)
February 13 & 14 Snail Mail Party
Children are invited to bring a note or card to share with each classmate. Children can choose to decorate cards as part of art self-selection the week before and these cards will be sent home. These notes can be homemade or commercially made cards. Please have your child sign or write their name on the back of the card. A specially decorated bag will be provided for treasure letters and favors.
March 15 & 16 Spring Share
Spring Share-Parents will be invited to the last thirty minutes of class on this day to share some of their adventures through photos and storyboards. Refreshments will be served for children and parents at the end of the day.
April 10-13 Spring Break (Resumes on April 17th)
May 24-25 Last day of Class-Graduation
Parents are invited to the last hour of class for a Graduation. We will have a small program, slide show, present diplomas and have refreshments for our final day.
